Join The Outside Foundation for an oyster shell bagging volunteer day and help protect our local waterways! This hands-on, moderate outdoor activity (think yard work) involves bending, lifting, and carrying up to 30 pounds of shell as we prepare recycled oyster shell for future reef restoration projects. Your time and energy directly support healthier habitat, improved water quality, and a more resilient Lowcountry ecosystem.
What to know before you go:
Please wear outdoor “work clothes” and close-toed shoes
Bring a reusable water bottle; as a sustainability-focused organization, we do not provide single-use water bottles
Gloves are provided for all volunteers
Oyster shell bagging is a moderate activity that includes bending, lifting, and carrying up to 30 pounds
Children ages 10 and up are welcome with adult supervision
All attendees must register before the event
