First ORRBI Reef Build
Our first oyster reef build was a success! Our volunteers, staff and partners from SCDNR worked tirelessly to transport over 400 bags of oyster shell to the Copper River / Page Island site. From there, the bags were unloaded from boats and arranged on the exposed mud bank in a line parallel to the waters-edge. The bags of shell were then reinforced with re-bar and necessary signage was erected to designate the site - as regulated by the Army Corps of Engineers. Big thanks to the many volunteers that made this reef build possible. We look forward to many more in the future!
