Our work begins with you.

Your support helps us get kids outside. Your help supports the work we do to protect our local environment, preserve our coastlines and conserve our local marine habitats.

How we make an impact

Group of people kayaking on a body of water under a partly cloudy sky. Multiple colorful kayaks and paddles are visible, with people wearing life jackets.
  • Each year every 7th grade student in Beaufort County student are taught to kayak and participate in hands on learning about the salt marsh ecosystem. That’s 1,300 kids served every school year!

  • In just 6 years, our Community-based Oyster Shell Recycling and Reef Building restoration program collected 164 tons of oyster shell - to date 27 reefs have been built in Beaufort County, (13 along the Hilton Head Island waterways, 2 along the Cooper River near the Page Islands, and 5 in the May River).

  • The Outside Foundation also sponsors an annual #EARTHDAYHHI program to collect litter throughout Beaufort County - Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Beaufort - over 15 tons of trash have been collected in the last 5 years.
