Emory University Students Volunteer for The Outside Foundation for Alternative Spring Break
On March 7th, 12 students from Emory University teamed up with The Outside Foundation for a little "spring cleaning" on the Page Islands. For over 5 hours the students removed 200+ pounds of trash from the surrounding marshes, cleared brush and landscape debris, and cleaned various wooded benches, railings, and floors. These students chose an "Alternative Spring Break" and contacted the Foundation to see if they could volunteer for an environmentally-based project. The group will finish out the week by volunteering at various locations in the city of Charleston. What a terrific group of young men and women. The beautiful Page Islands are shining! Thank you Mike Overton and Mickey Price from Outside Hilton Head for making this project possible.
