TD Bank 'Bring Change' Raises Funds for The Outside Foundation

August 3, 2015 – (Hilton Head Island, SC) – On July 17th, TD Bank hosted a “Green Friday” event at their main Hilton Head location on New Orleans Road. As part of the banks national ‘Bring Change’ initiative, a penny arcade was installed in the lobby of the New Orleans Road branch to collect donations of loose change for local non-profit The Outside Foundation. TD Bank matched donations, and presented a check for $2353.63 to the Foundation on the Monday following the event. The funds are earmarked for The Outside Foundations ‘Kids in Kayaks’ program, which has a goal of getting every middle schooler in Beaufort County out kayaking.

Through February 2016, TD's coin-counting Penny Arcades in 500 select stores will serve as designated hubs to collect change and fund local community initiatives across the company's Maine to Florida footprint. Customers and the community are invited to donate all of a portion of their counted coins, which TD Bank will match with a donation of up to $2,000, awarding more than $1 million to worthy recipients. The Outside Foundation was the first organization chosen as beneficiary by the TD Bank on New Orleans Road.

The donated funds will be used to provide scholarships to children in need so that they may participate in the Kids in Kayaks program. Extending The Outside Foundation’s mission to ‘get kids outside,’ the Kids in Kayaks program combines hands on learning about the local ecosystem with kayaking. "Over 100 7th graders from Beaufort County, who would not otherwise been able to participate in the program due to cost, will now join their classmates for a day of kayaking and exploring our amazing tidal creeks and salt marshes" said Jean Fruh, Executive Director of The Outside Foundation.

The Outside Foundation is a Hilton Head based 501c(3) non-profit with the mission to get kids outside and protect and preserve the local environment. The Foundation operates the 'Kids in Kayaks' program in addition to hosting water-way clean-ups and partnering with local businesses on recycling initiatives, shoe drives and environmental advocacy.
